L-3 Cincinnati Electronics Attains CMMI® Maturity Level 3 Certification

CINCINNATI, March 7, 2011 - L-3 Cincinnati Electronics announced today that it has been appraised as fully compliant at Maturity Level 3 with the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI®) for Development, Version 1.2. The Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPISM) Class A Appraisal was conducted for the project management, engineering and support organizations at L-3 Cincinnati Electronics.

CMMI models help integrate traditionally separate organizational functions, set process improvement goals and priorities, provide guidance for quality processes, and serve as a point of reference for appraising current processes. CMMI Maturity Level 3 compliance means an organization's processes for management, engineering and support activities have been formally defined, documented and integrated into a standard process set that is understood and followed by the organization's staff when developing and maintaining products.

"We are very pleased to have attained CMMI Maturity Level 3 certification," said Jim Wimmers, president of L-3 Cincinnati Electronics. "This accomplishment will enable us to significantly improve our process performance, take on more complex programs and position our company to more effectively meet the needs of our customers."
